On a cold and very rainy Wednesday 4th June 2014 a group of 26 pupils went to Cirencester Rugby Club to compete in a Sainsbury’s school games event organized by a lady called Helen Pauling.

There were two events Archery and Mountain Biking.

The Mountain Biking team were: Felix Thornton, Annie Tallis, Laura Willey, Luis Dean Brown, William Green, Sophie Staley, Indigo Blyth and Tommy Mackinnon-Little.

The Archery team were: Chy Pearson, Oliver Hudson Hayworth, William Buckley, Jessica Hale, Freya Almore, Anna Lincoln, Flora Abrey, Isabelle Watts, Emily Fisher, Matty Scott, Danielle Cook, Connor Houston, Missy Pearson, Lara Clarkson, Ben Harwood, Kester Derson, Bethany Cate and Lewis Robinson.

 They all achieved good results:

Mountain Biking Luis Dean Brown came 2nd in a race, Felix Thornton came 3rd in a race, Laura Willey came 4th in a race, Tommy Mackinnon-Little came 4th in a race as well, William Green came 5th in a race, Sophie Staley came 5th in a race as well, Annie Tallis came 6th in a race and Indigo Blyth came 9th in a race.

The Archery teams did very well, but only 1 team got a medal and it was down to a tie break.

The Tie Breaker
In the Archery Blockley got 35 and so did the other team so the only way to settle it was to have a shoot off. 3 people from each team bowed 3 arrows each and whoever got the most out of that was the winner and we lost by 1 point!
The silver medalists were: Matty Scott, Danielle Cook, Connor Houston, Missy Pearson, Lara Clarkson, Ben Harwood, Kester Derson, Bethany Cate and Lewis Robinson all received a silver Sainsbury’s School Games medal.
